House of Interpretation was founded by Freek Roels. Freek grew up in Bruges, a city where every street corner carries a piece of history. This connection to space and its layers of meaning shaped his early curiosity. After studying at Sint Lucas in Ghent, Freek set out to explore how interiors could go beyond aesthetics, creating environments that feel intentional and grounded.
Over the years, his work has crossed borders, with projects for multinationals that demanded more than just design, they needed spaces that reflect the unique identity of those who inhabit them. This led to the founding of House of Interpretation, where each project is approached with the same clarity: to create spaces that speak to their surroundings and the people within them, without pretense or excess.
Freek continues to shape environments that stand out not for their flash, but for their thoughtful presence, always bringing a quiet sense of purpose to every interior.

THE FOUNDER

At House of Interpretation (HOI), we create spaces that are more than just functional—they’re thoughtfully designed environments shaped by years of experience. We understand what makes a workspace, restaurant, or hotel operate smoothly. Our approach is grounded in practical knowledge, guided by a team of designers and craftsmen who are as reliable as they are skilled. This combination of expertise and precision gives us a distinct edge when making decisions about each project.

THE COMPANY

What sets HOI apart goes beyond the physical aspects of our designs. We know that today’s workspaces need to do more than provide a place to sit; they need to engage and inspire. Companies come to us because they want environments where people are excited to return, where top talent is drawn to stay, and where the workplace reflects the values and identity of the business itself. The spaces we create are integral to that brand story, serving as both a functional asset and a reflection of the company’s culture.

THE JOURNEY

Picture yourself in a space designed by HOI. A setting that feels natural, intuitive, and aligned with how people work and interact. Whether it’s an office that fosters collaboration, a hotel that offers comfort without compromise, or a restaurant that feels vibrant and inviting, our designs fit seamlessly into the daily lives of the people who use them. Each environment is crafted to support both the practical and personal sides of life, offering more than just a place to work or gather. It becomes a space where people thrive. Explore the possibilities of what your environment could be, and let House of Interpretation turn it into reality.
